Sorry I have not made the connection clear enough, my bad. The Product proximity concept is explained at length in my book “On Proximity”: it is a special awareness we have about the recorded past and the projected future of a product at any time of its life-cycle, with particular reference to the social occasions the product has created (and will create) during its life time. It is the information about the cobalt caves from where the battery components of my cars have been sourced; it is the social capital that I will form by playing a piano; it is the chair that will be produced with recycled materials from the laptop I am typing these words on. The tool that allows us to visualise the ‘story’ of the product is described at lengths in the book (it is called ‘A Good’s Life’). If you are interested in it I can just explain more or send you the book.
