I think that is the real question of all this right? What is the remaining rationale for Nation States? Because of poor policy-making, the annihilation of the social contract, the absence (to-date) of wars, there is a growing distance between citizens and national politics. And yet, the latter is the only institution — in a wide majority of nations — that is bestowed legislative power. With the growth of cities — sprawl included — Nation States are making less an less sense.
