I guess this footnote says it all. That in 2019, some people find it more morally acceptable to elect to high offices misogyny while others do not want people know that they sell male sex dolls says a lot about the fact that the overwhelming disparity of female vs male doll sold depends on social acceptance and normative pressure of what a woman ‘should’ like. My mom graphically says that if instead of Bill, Hilary Clinton was caught at her desk while some intern was fondling her clitoris she would not be around for lucrative speaking engagements at international conferences. It is really not that women like different things than men: we should get rid of the – male fabricated – stereotype that women all want love and cuddles while it is manly to just want a good fuck night. It is about what men ‘allow’ women to like, what they make it socially acceptable for women to respond to and this greatly have to do with the ‘control’ of women that men desperately try to hang on to. Celebrating women’s independent pleasure as the best design of the year was way too much for the society to accept. Similarly, selling male dolls for women’s indipendent pleasure is way too much social pressure for ‘Rick’.
