I disagree that boredom is an absolute condition. It is always a relative condition. It is relative to your benchmark, to what you are ‘used to’. Boredom never ‘ends’ because as soon as you are not bored anymore — because something new is out — your benchmark has gone up a bit and you will need a little bit more not to fall into boredom again. Not only that. The speed at which you add stuff to capture your attention matters as well. If I am used to two new shows a day, if only one is released: “Boooooooorinnnnng”. So the tragedy of our condition is both absolute and relative…
