Hong Kong: crashing to reality

I have lived in Hong Kong from 2008 to 2015. As an economist it was dazzling. Trade flows were plentiful and visible from the windows of my office that overlooked the massive container port. Capital flows were exploding, as China had decided to turn Hong Kong in the centre of an offshore market for its currency.
