Douglas thanks for this. Already Max Weber in 1910 thought that human aspiration to explain everything scientifically (born with Descartes’ Discourse on Method) would lead to disasters. I live my life as my mother taught to me, embracing enchantment, leaving that particular door opened. My daughter asked me if fairies are real and I answered her: ‘do you prefer to live in a world where fairies might be real or where the certainly not exist?’ She chose the former, and the world would be a better place if as we celebrate scientific progress we celebrate the possibility of the mystery as one of the pillar of the being.
